A popular political comic series by Dan O’Neill was turned into the musical “Odd Bodkins,” presented by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in 1973 in the Fire Circle Outdoor Theatre, where it became an instant hit.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s 1988 production of Stephen Sondheim’s soaring musical “Pacific Overtures” features an all-Asian cast, TheatreWorks’s first Actors Equity Association actors, and a kabuki stage that wound through the audience. Sondheim is TheatreWorks’ most produced composer, with a total of 20 productions, many of them San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award-winners.
